The Atlantic Marine Energy Center is one of four DOE-funded marine renewable energy centers in the United States. This partnership of academic institutions was created to enhance and accelerate the development of sustainable marine energy through research, education, and outreach.
AMEC universities include Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, the Coastal Studies Institute of East Carolina University in North Carolina, Stony Brook University of New York, and our very own University of New Hampshire, which houses the largest wind tunnel of its kind in the world.
The group wanted a logo that would clearly convey their mission, and the final design (top) contains elements that represent water, energy, waves, flow, and renewal.
